Community Pharmacy Scotland (CPS) has raised £8,732 after a golf day (June 5).

The Scottish pharmacy negotiator held its eleventh annual charity golf day at Mar Hall resort to the northwest of Glasgow on May 9.

It saw 67 attendees in 17 teams play a round of golf to fundraise for CPS’ charity partner Held In Our Hearts, which has offered baby loss counselling and peer support to families for over 40 years in Scotland.

Two of the charity’s fundraisers Christina Laird and Agata Szymanczak joined the golf day and CPS said their speech to the group “reminded us all why this event – and the funds raised – matter so much”.

Held In Our Hearts chief operating officer Rossi Craig told C+D that the charity is “truly touched by the generosity of everyone who took part and donated” and the money raised was “an amazing achievement”.

“This support will make a meaningful difference to the families we walk alongside after the heartbreaking loss of their baby,” she said.

“Every pound raised helps us continue delivering vital services, including counselling, peer support, and our Hospital to Home programme, bringing us closer to our goal of ensuring that no family in Scotland has to face the devastating loss of their child alone.

“Thank you to CPS for standing with us and helping to bring compassion and connection to those navigating unimaginable loss.”

CPS also thanked its event sponsors for the charity golf day and hoped to “make next year’s event even bigger”.

On previous charity golf days, CPS had fundraised for Breast Cancer Care Scotland, Scottish Action for Mental Health, Alzheimer Scotland and St Columba's Hospice.

Last year, the Birmingham Pharmaceutical Golf Society celebrated its centenary year and called on the younger generation to join the group and carry on its legacy.

In May, CPS has accepted the “first part” of the 2025/26 funding package for Scottish pharmacies, including a rise in guaranteed minimum reimbursement and service income.

And in April, an Edinburgh pharmacy donated £3,000 worth of products to a hygiene poverty charity.
