Newly Qualified Pharmacist in the Lake District

My name is William Evans and I have been a provisionally registered Pharmacist at Boots for 10 months. I currently work as a Relief Pharmacist in the beautiful Lake District!

One of the main reasons as to why I would recommend working for Boots is the support network that is available. I feel this has been crucial for a year that is not only my first year as a Pharmacist, but one where I was on the provisional register. There are so many points of contact available to me when I feel that I need help or advice. Whether that be my line manager, my Area Manager, the Pharmacist Helpdesk, or any one of the tutors that I have available to me. This support network allows me to practice with more confidence as well as assurance that I am doing the right thing.

Boots UK also has amazing training programmes, such as the flu vaccine training day, with new services that are constantly being added to this. These training days not only allow me to practice knowing that I am able to safely and effectively provide the service, but also allow us to support our communities, patients and doctors surgeries alike.

Living and working in the Lake District also has its benefits too! From the beautiful scenery and endless number of walks to the quaint, picturesque towns, there is plenty to do here. Although it is a big change of pace from where I grew up in North Manchester, I’ve found that I have adapted very well. I feel there is a sense of community here that I is lacking in most cities, meaning that making friends is easy and the environment just feels safe.

There are financial benefits of living here too! As well as the living allowance that Boots provides, I’ve found that rent here is far cheaper than the city, meaning that not only I can have a nicer place to live, but I can save more money for holidays and my house deposit.

Relocating to the Lake District to work as a Pharmacist was a fantastic decision for me and I'd definitely recommend it to any Pharmacists, or aspiring Pharmacists, who want a change of scenery, a new adventure or a new challenge!
