Mital Thakrar is Well Pharmacy's head of private services with extensive experience in healthcare innovation, commercial strategy and service development.

He leads the growth of Well’s private healthcare portfolio, spanning areas such as weight management, vaccinations, travel health, diagnostics and digital healthcare.

Thakrar is passionate about the evolving role of community pharmacy and the opportunity for pharmacists to make healthcare more accessible, convenient and patient-centred.

In this podcast, Thakrar charts his interest in pharmacy from aged 12 when he visited his uncle's pharmacy, to getting his pharmacy school place through clearing and finding university more straightforward than his A-levels.

He shares why he loves the clinical and business side of community pharmacy, and what he did to work up to managing a branch one day.

Thakrar explains what he does in his role and gives his thoughts on whether private services will overtake NHS services.

And he chats about the influence of his parents' work ethic, his two pieces of advice to newly qualified pharmacists, and why he values listening to a patient as a key component to thriving as a pharmacist.
