Buying + Selling: A 22-day sale, NI group operator expansion, and South Wales updates
Sandford Pharmacy
A small group operator has sold a Dorset village pharmacy to a first-time buyer.
Everyou Health Limited owns three other pharmacies but sold Sandford Pharmacy as part of a strategic review of its regional portfolio.
It stands unopposed in Sandford and dispenses around 7,000 items per month, with AMB Pharma Ltd taking over the pharmacy.
The company includes first-time buyer Anna Mielczarek, who will run the day-to-day operations.
Her business partner Madhu Bhogadi bought his first pharmacy two years ago after locuming in the area, and said the pharmacy has “potential for growth” despite the backdrop of a “perfect storm of financial, operational, and workforce challenges”.

“We will be diversifying the revenue stream at Sandford Pharmacy by introducing more private services, improving efficiencies and the customer experience,” he added.
Brokers Christie & Co said Dorset is an “in-demand area” and pharmacies are “often snapped up quickly”.
Soho Pharmacy
A high-dispensing Birmingham pharmacy has been sold to a husband-and-wife team expanding from their online pharmacy business.
Soho Pharmacy is located in a health centre in the residential Handsworth area of the city and dispenses around 20,000 items per month.
Mo and Faiza Rafiq have bought the pharmacy to expand into brick-and-mortar pharmacies after previous owner Hardial Uppal retired.

Christie & Co pharmacy director Carl Steer said after a back-and-forth with Uppal on when to go to market, the sale was agreed in just 22 days after 12 potential buyers were approached off-market.
“A great result and swift conclusion to what was three to four years in the making,” he added.
Kingston Pharmacy
A North Lincolnshire village pharmacy has been bought by a first-time buyer.
New co-owner, pharmacist Joy Ekpeh, said it had been her goal to be a pharmacy owner “for some time” as she bought Messingham’s Kingston Pharmacy from John Crump and Paul Watson.
The pair established the pharmacy in 2000 and “made the difficult decision to sell” to go into retirement. It dispenses on average 5,128 items per month and is located on Messingham’s high street.

Christie & Co said five above guide price offers were received for Kingston Pharmacy and the sale took just four months.
Ekpeh said she was attracted to the pharmacy’s location and “trusted reputation” in the community and wants to offer more services and improve the patient experience.
Key Chemists
A Norfolk village pharmacy has bene sold to an established pharmacy owner.
Key Chemists in Terrington St Clement, King’s Lynn, is unopposed and dispenses a high 10,000 items per month.
The owner sold for retirement after running the pharmacy since 1992, and brokers Hutchings got over 10 offers for the pharmacy.
Llanhilleth Pharmacy
A GP-owned Welsh village pharmacy on the edge of the Brecon Beacons has been sold to a first-time buyer.
Llanhilleth Pharmacy in Gwent has been sold by local GP Dr Satish Narang after 15 years of ownership so he can invest in other ventures.

Cardiff-based Mohammed Din bought the pharmacy which dispenses a steady 7,370 items per month.
Christie & Co said there is “good interest” in South Wales, with buyers across the English border looking for “the increase in value that the Welsh contract offers” for pharmacies.
Cowzers Pharmacy
A group operator has expanded its Northern Ireland operations after buying a Belfast pharmacy.
Northern Pharmacies now has seven branches after buying Cowzers Pharmacy, which is just south of Belfast city centre and dispenses an average of 4,800 NHS items per month.
It was owned by pharmacist Gary Jones since 1996 and he put it up for sale to allow for retirement.
Good Life Pharmacy
A Derbyshire village pharmacy has been sold to allow for retirement.
Good Life Pharmacy in Hatton has a post office in its premises as it dispenses around 6,800 items per month.
Ex-owners Lindsey Fairbrother and Aidan Priestley have sold for retirement “after many years dedicated to serving their community”, according to Hutchings.
Briton Ferry Healthcare Ltd
Two high-dispensing South Wales pharmacies have been put up for sale for a combined £2.35m.
The Quays and Neath Road Pharmacy are part of the Briton Ferry Healthcare Ltd group and its managing director Rob Davies chose to downsize his portfolio of pharmacies.
Both are located less than a mile away in the south Wales town of Neath to the north east of Swansea, and will be sold either together or separately.

The Quays, on the market at £1.6m, is in the Briton Ferry Health Centre with two large consultation rooms and has high footfall as it dispenses 16,000 items per month.
Neath Road Pharmacy, up for sale at £750,000, is on a high street dispensing 9,000 items per month, and it’s a freehold that includes a two-bedroom residential apartment.

“Both pharmacies hold a close working relationship that remains to this day, and a super-established staff who have been instrumental in growing the business,” said Davies.
Christie & Co said both pharmacies are in “good condition”, have “room for growth”, and can provide “profitability from day one”.
Key Chemist, Goodlife Pharmacy, Kingston Pharmacy, Soho Pharmacy, Cowzers Pharmacy, Llanhilleth Pharmacy and Sandford Pharmacy were sold for undisclosed prices.
