Community Pharmacy England (CPE) launched their 2025 pharmacy pressures survey last week (January 17) for pharmacy workers to share the level of pressure they feel in the sector.

The annual survey covers issues around financial concerns, workload, capacity, staffing and morale as it is part of "ongoing work to monitor and quantify the intolerable challenges facing the sector", according to CPE.

CPE chief executive Janet Morrison said "the pressures survey is one of many data sources that Community Pharmacy England uses to make this case to Government and the NHS, and it is a powerful tool for influencing policy makers, with past surveys generating significant national media coverage and Parliamentary mentions".

"Thank you to everyone who takes the time to complete this year’s survey. Every contribution will help," she added.

The pharmacy pressures survey consists of two surveys that can be accessed here.

Both take around 10-15 minutes to complete, and they will remain open until 23:59pm on February 28. Results from the 2024 survey can be found here.

Pharmacy First anniversary survey

The Pharmacists' Defence Association (PDA) announced their Pharmacy First one year anniversary survey for England last week (January 16) to give all community pharmacists the opportunity to share their experiences and thoughts for the future of the service.

It follows a similar survey conducted in early 2024 just before the Pharmacy First began, as the PDA revealed pharmacists "supported the principle of the scheme and felt that it could benefit patient care".

But the PDA also shared how "a significant majority of pharmacists agreed or strongly agreed that if the Pharmacy First Service was not introduced or resourced properly, it could damage a workforce situation that was already under strain".

The results of the survey will help to inform stakeholders about the service from frontline pharmacists who have delivered Pharmacy First Service to patients over the past year as the government and NHS indicate their intentions to expand the scope of the service.

The Pharmacy First one year anniversary survey for England can be accessed here.

The PDA asks all pharmacists to complete the survey by 23:59pm on January 26.
