Nerves are abundant in the summer for final year MPharm students as they await their registration results, but do you remember the jangling stress of A-level results day?

Tomorrow students will be finding out whether they have got their first or insurance choice, or whether they need to go through Clearing to get a place on the course they want.

For University of Brighton student Hasti Zare, her ambition remained focused on studying the MPharm as she explored Clearing.

"Pharmacy was always my first choice,” she said. “I've always been fascinated by how different medications work in the body and how treatments are used to help patients.”

Zare wanted to explore her options in Clearing to find a university she would feel “supported and confident in excelling” but admitted the process can feel “overwhelming and a bit nerve-wracking”.

UCAS reminds students to check the status of their application in the UCAS Hub on results day to find out whether your place has been confirmed.

It also shares advice on what to do if your place has been accepted, if you didn’t get the grades you needed for your course, if you got better grades than you expected, or if you changed your mind about your studying.

"Clearing is not a setback, it's really an opportunity to find what environment and what course fits you the best,” Zare said.

Courses available in Clearing are shown on UCAS and it is open until October 19.

UCAS says you need to contact universities you’re interested in before you add your Clearing choice to confirm they would accept you, as well as giving you the chance to ask them about accommodation options at the university and arrange a visit.

Zare said going through Clearing helped her be “more intentional” with her university choice as she had the chance to reach out, ask questions and visit to inform what she wanted to do.

She said Clearing is not about settling for what's left to choose from but finding the right place to study that fits for you.

Now, Zare is loving “how practical and clinically focused the course is” and feels studying the MPharm has pushed her “to grow as a person”.

“We're constantly applying what we learn in lectures through labs, OSCEs, clinical workshops and placements, so you can really see how everything fits together.”
