Mount Toubkal trek
A hospital pharmacy manager has climbed North Africa’s highest mountain to help raise £30,000 for a hospital charity, it announced last week (May 2).
The Meridien Hospital pharmacy clinical services manager Deepak Lodhia joined eight other climbers taking on Mount Toubkal in Morocco’s Atlas Mountains, which stands at 4,167m high.
The money raised will be donated to the George Eliot Hospital Chairty to “support new equipment and wellbeing initiatives at the breast care cancer unit” according to the Coventry-based Meridien Hospital.

The ascent took three days from April 17 and the team had to manage wild temperature fluctuations, from a sunny 20°C to a dangerously cold minus 15°C.
Lodhia said he saw “dramatic views towards Marrakech and the Anti-Atlas Mountains”, and passing through remote villages he witnessed the “life of the friendly Amazigh people”.
He is still raising money with the other climbers ahead of the donation to the George Eliot Hospital Chairty.
