The Pharmacists' Defence Association (PDA) women’s network NAWP is taking part in the charity’s Wear It Pink campaign which encourages people to wear pink on October 24.

The PDA NAWP president Lourette Latif Phillips said “we now need your help again” after raising £820 so far since it started raising donations for Breast Cancer Now.

Phillips said “it is time to show support to the two million women around the world who are diagnosed each year”.

“This opens up conversations about breast cancer and raises money to fund research into treatment and cure. Pharmacy is an integral part of the community where patients come to seek support and a safe space.

“Pharmacy teams wearing pink and getting involved will show support to those who have been diagnosed and educate the public about early detection.”

NAWP is inviting pharmacists to take a selfie wearing pink and send it to NAWP by October 5 and the network will create a poster with the selfies to share on social media to help raise money for Breast Cancer Now.

It comes as NAWP celebrated its 120th year of supporting women pharmacists and fighting for gender equality in the workplace this year.

Earlier this month, the PDA revealed trainee pharmacists have flagged “discrepancies” between advertised pay and the actual amount set out in their contracts, as well as salaries that breach minimum wage laws.
