A Derbyshire pharmacy has been sold in just 18 days to an online clinic and prescription service (March 20).
Based opposite a medical centre, Omega Pharmacy dispensed an average of 3,000 items per month as it’s previous owners decided to sell after a short ownership to focus on their Coventry pharmacy.
Christie & Co pharmacy director Carl Steer said: “This sale took just 18 working days which is not only my fastest ever sale in 20 years with Christie & Co, but is also four to six months quicker than a typical sale and we achieved over the guide price.”
Atherstone In-Practice Pharmacy
A high-dispensing and extended hours Warwickshire pharmacy has been sold to a consortium led by a local pharmacy owner (March 10).
Atherstone In-Practice Pharmacy dispenses an average of 23,000 items per month and was sold by its GP partners at Atherstone Surgery.

Christie & Co Finance’s senior director David Ward said there had been a “mass of corporate pharmacies hitting the market over the last 24 months” and “lenders have been a little more cautious on finance for pharmacies, looking closely at the ability of any pharmacy to easily cover its outgoings”.
“Jay and his partners are hugely experienced pharmacists and I am certain that they will continue to provide a valuable community service to Atherstone,” he added.
Takeaways, micro bar and bus depots
A former Boots pharmacy could be turned into a takeaway in Great Yarmouth.
A planning application for 138C High Street in Gorleston would split up the existing unit into two and use them as a restaurant and takeaway, but local councillor Barbara Wright objected along with a dozen others.
She said: “There has been a proliferation of cafes / takeaways in that area recently and the high street should provide a varied shopping area and the shop should remain as retail premises.”

GNA Healthcare’s Gazenfer Ali bought LG Pharmacy to add to his three other Glasgow pharmacies and another in Fife and he hopes to “emulate the success of all of our other pharmacies”.
“10 years ago, we started with one pharmacy dispensing barely 2,500 items per month and now we are heading towards 50,000 items per month as a group. I am happy to warmly welcome the team at LG who will be instrumental to the growth we are looking to achieve,” he added.

Adel Pharmacy dispense around 4,036 items per month and sits next to a private GP, physiotherapist and aesthetics clinic, with previous owners M&B Healthcare selling after consolidating its portfolio which includes nine pharmacies.
SAAAI Pharma Ltd have bought it, and its co-owner Shahbaz Mirza said a key factor was “the limited competition in the area, presenting a unique opportunity to strengthen our foothold in the market”.
Clarkes Pharmacy
A Northern Irish village has been sold to a first-time buyer as its previous owner retires (March 19).
Clarkes Pharmacy dispense around 7,350 items a month at its County Armagh location in Newtownhamilton village, and is within walking distance of two GP surgeries.
