People loathe chasing down invoices, particularly when it impacts your ability to pay your own bills. 

Pharmacist Support helps pharmacists, trainee pharmacists and MPharm students when they face these issues.

While the charity can’t use its funds to cover unpaid wages, it will still help you. 

“The majority of those reaching out to us in relation to unpaid fees are seeking practical guidance rather than direct financial or wellbeing support,” said chief executive Danielle Hunt. 

“For example, pharmacists wishing to pursue a small claim through the Money Claim Online (MCOL) process can access debt advice via Citizens Advice, with whom we have a partnership.”

Eligible pharmacists can access financial assistance through grants that Pharmacist Support offers for essential living expenses, one-off costs, urgent support grants under £300, and the student bursary scheme.  

The charity awarded £696,410 in financial assistance grants in the last five years. 

Locums 

Hunt said Pharmacist Support has seen an increase in locums seeking support for recovering owed wages in the last year, which “reflects the financial pressures many pharmacy owners are currently facing.” 

The charity offers resources to locums on its website.

LawWorks and Law Centres Network are charities Pharmacist Support has recommended who can offer free legal advice. 

Last week C+D revealed unpaid locums are taking legal action against Jhoots Pharmacy businesses owned by Sarbjit Jhooty and Nilam Patel.
