Once upon a time in the world of make believe vets would tell dog owners to go to the pharmacy and buy a bottle of Benylin and give their dog 5ml qds. Yes really, about 30 plus years ago, did any animals die? I don’t know, most got a bit drowsy, but who wouldn’t.
Now OTC meds are only licensed for human use. I have used the discussion with animal owners that I’m not insured to break the law and supply a licensed human medicine for their pet, and I’m not prepared to go to prison! Sounds a bit alarmist but when delivered with patient (animal) care at its heart it helps to promote the importance of the pharmacist being the nations medicines expert.

How remarkably uninformed. I am pleased that she is not my GP.
