The team at Dysart Pharmacy in Kirkcaldy was invited to the Royal Garden Party hosted by the King and Queen, which was held on June 30.

The Dysart Pharmacy workers were invited by the Lord-Lieutenant of Fife after the pharmacy was voted the best in the area for 2025.

Community Pharmacy Scotland (CPS) said the award celebrated “outstanding contribution to community pharmacy and patient care across the region”.

Superintendent pharmacist Kevin Murphy and prescribing pharmacist Vicki from Dysart attended.

Colleagues from the dispensing team Steph, Scott and Donald were also present, as well as delivery drivers Derek and Ron.

The event was held at the Palace of Holyrood house with around 8,000 guests in attendance.

“Much deserved”

King Charles and Queen Camilla were in attendance, as well as the Duke of Edinburgh and the Princess Royal, also known as Prince Edward and Princess Anne.

CPS said it “would like to congratulate Kevin and the team at Dysart Pharmacy, for this a much deserved recognition and achievement”.

Kevin Murphy said “today is a real honour for every single member of our team. Winning Best Pharmacy in Fife last year was a proud moment, but standing in the gardens of Holyrood house alongside the King and Queen - that's something none of us will forget.”

“It's recognition not just of an award, but of the hours our pharmacists, dispensers and drivers put in week after week for the people of Kirkcaldy,” he added.

It comes as the King’s birthday honours list was announced in June, with General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) chair Gisela Abbam being awarded an OBE for “services to the pharmacy professions and health”.

Other notable figures in pharmacy who were honoured included Olympic pharmacy advisor Dr Mark Stuart who also received an OBE, and former pharmacy dean at Health Education and Improvement Wales Professor Margaret Allan who received an MBE.

It also follows Boots earlier this month announcing it had been granted a royal warrant in “recognition of its service as manufacturers and retailers of health and beauty products".

The warrant is awarded to companies who supply the royal household with products regularly, for at least five years.
