The high street pharmacy has teamed up with Newcastle and England star Dan Burn, who was on the bench for England’s 4-2 massacre of Croatia on Tuesday night.

The central defender has also been rechristened “Dan Won’t Burn” across his social media accounts.

Boots launched the World Cup campaign alongside Macmillan Cancer Support to promote its ‘Mole Scanning Service’.

The service provides an assessment of moles and pigmented lesions by dermatology experts trained to spot suspicious ones.

The high street pharmacy is offering 20% off the service, and said it has 8,000 specially trained “suncare advisors” in 1,000 Boots stores.

The UK is bracing itself for a heatwave set to exceed 32C in London next week, just in time for England vs Ghana at 9pm on Tuesday night.

Clare O’Connor, who is a suncare scientific advisor at Boots, did not provide a prediction for England vs Ghana. But she said while the campaign encourages people to “think about the back of the neck, which is a regularly forgotten area for protection, it’s important not to stop there.

“Sun protection should cover all exposed skin, remembering the scalp, ears, hairline and neck, which are all often missed yet are particularly vulnerable to sun damage.”

Boots also revealed research which said 80% of adults have burned the back of their neck in the past, with 21% saying that it happens every year or more.
