‘Life-changing support’: £5k bursaries for final year MPharm students open
The scheme is open until April 20, and it awards £3,000 or £5,000 to students who have experienced “an unexpected challenge that has had both a personal and financial impact since starting their degree”.
The scheme began in 2014 and has awarded 103 bursaries totalling £332,000 since its introduction.
Last year’s scheme saw all 28 fully accredited pharmacy schools in Britain take part, and Pharmacist Support said it received 88 applications from across 24 universities.

The charity’s chief executive Danielle Hunt said beyond the financial support, the scheme is about “belief, reassurance, and helping students stay the course”.
She thanked pharmaceutical wholesaler Cencora Alliance Healthcare for their third year supporting the scheme and making “this life-changing support possible”.
Cencora senior vice president Marie Evans added “it’s vital to help remove barriers that could prevent talented individuals from completing their training and entering the profession”.

One student thanked Pharmacist Support for the bursary after she faced difficult circumstances of being a single mother of two, living on the other side of the country to her university, getting divorced and becoming homeless.
“I don't know how I would have been able to finish my degree without the bursary and therefore I was facing the very real and heart-breaking possibility of being left without the qualifications I needed to become a pharmacist,” she said.
“This bursary has altered the trajectory of my future and of course the futures of my two toddlers. They will get to see their mother graduate this summer thanks to this bursary, isn’t that amazing?”
