‘Rewarding opportunity’: Pharmacist Support seeks new volunteers

The charity is recruiting both pharmacist and lay trustees to its board, as it wants people from outside the profession to bring “valuable skills, perspectives and lived experiences to support the charity’s future development and governance”.

Pharmacist Support is recruiting for trustees and ambassadors to join its charity.

The charity’s chair Esther Sadler-Williams said joining as a trustee is “an incredibly rewarding opportunity to help make a meaningful difference to the wellbeing of our pharmacy family”

Applications open on June 5 and close on August 3.

Pharmacist Support, which is the charity partner of the C+D Awards, has called on pharmacy professionals from across the sector to join its Charity Ambassador volunteer network to help “raise awareness of the charity and strengthen engagement across the profession” through campaigning and events.

It said informal conversations on the role will happen over the summer and successful applicants will be invited to a volunteer event in September.

Its chief executive Danielle Hunt said both roles “play an important role in helping ensure no one in our pharmacy family faces challenging times alone”.

It has launched the recruitment campaign during Volunteers’ Week, and Pharmacist Support thanked “every volunteer who gives their time, energy and care so freely”.

C+D Awards

It comes as Pharmacist Support resumes its longstanding charity partnership for the C+D Awards on September 10.

You can still enter the awards, with submissions closing this week on June 5.

In April, Pharmacist Support celebrated its 185th birthday and one of its partners celebrated this landmark by doubling its donations for a month.

The Pharmacists’ Defence Association (PDA) has donated over £350,000 to the charity by donating £1 for every one of its members each year, but it donated £2 per member from April 15 to May 14.

Last week, the PDA announced the double donation month resulted in a £4,270 donation to Pharmacist Support.
