Limerick-based TouchStore is the new title sponsor for what will be the Irish PGA Championship, which will take place between August 2-5 at Limerick Golf Club.

The event (now the TouchStore Irish PGA Championship) has been won by previous top-ranked Irish golfers Paul McGinley and Padraig Harrington, who have both been part of Ryder Cup teams.

TouchStore says it provides dispensing systems, retail management and regulatory compliance software to pharmacies in Ireland.

Managing director Gerard Cassidy has been a member of Limerick Golf Club for years and saw it as a great opportunity to sponsor the event.

He said he was proud the pharmacy company was standing “alongside the professionals who drive Irish golf forward”.

“Our sponsorship reflects our belief in performance, precision, and continuous improvement,” he added.

It will be the 116th Irish PGA. The last time it was held at Limerick Golf Club was in 1973.

It’s not the first time a pharmacy business has sponsored a sport team or venue.

A Scottish indie pharmacy chain sponsored the back of Glasgow’s Queen’s Park football shirts, while a travel pharmacy became an official partner with Sheffield United FC for the 2025/26 season.

In November, an online pharmacy became an official Nottinghamshire cricket partner and last February, Superdrug announced a partnership with England Netball and the Netball Super League (NSL).

It comes as golfer J. J. Spaun won the US Open in June despite “running” to a CVS pharmacy before his final round to help his daughter with a stomach bug.

Last week, Ireland’s government announced its patients can now claim tax relief on the cost of certain pharmacy services.
