Things to consider when starting on your community pharmacist career path

Taking your first steps on a new career path can be an exciting, but nerve-wracking experience. Well Pharmacy has training and support measures in place to guide you every step of the way.

Find the right foundation pharmacist placement

Here at Well we offer a range of benefits, including:

  • comprehensive in-house training
  • carefully selected tutors committed to developing our foundation pharmacists
  • four hours protected study time per week, together with access to our online training platform
  • monthly training days with a specialist trainer.

You’ll also work with other foundation pharmacists from around the UK completing their placement year with Well, giving you access to a wide and diverse network of professionals as well as a great opportunity to connect, learn and share experiences with your peers. All to support you moving into your new career.

Consider what next steps are available to you after your placement

All our foundation pharmacists are offered the chance to move into our newly qualified pharmacist roles. This could be as a relief pharmacist, so you can build your experience across a range of different community pharmacies, or as a pharmacist, where you can make a difference within that community supporting our patients and customers.

You get the final say…

It’s down to how you want to develop your chosen career, whether that is taking on more clinical skills or working as a manager. We support individuals through our dedicated training programmes, including the ‘Leading Well’ leadership development course.

Build your support network

Having the right support network around you really helps make the first steps on your community pharmacy journey smooth ones. At Well we provide advice and guidance to colleagues who aren’t successful in the registration assessment, or the Oriel process, and we work with universities to ensure individuals can access the support they need.

The Resourcing team are always here to help.  If you have any questions about our vacancies, joining our talent pool, the recruitment process or need our support and advice, then, you can fill the form below and a member of the team will be in touch:
