Career in Community Pharmacy
We asked Nikhita 3 key questions about being a Community Pharmacist.
What do you enjoy most about being a pharmacist? As a people person, what I enjoy most about being a Pharmacist is being able to interact with so many people on a day to day basis, from members of the public, to GP's and my colleagues. For me it is mist rewarding to be able to make a difference to a patient's day, whether it be counselling on how to use an inhaler, or a lengthy discussion about a minor illness. I also love that everyday is different and the job never gets dull!
What has been your highlight of the last 12 months? Although the last 12 months has been a challenging one due to COVID-19, a highlight for me has been that as a profession, we have really shown what we can achieve and how we can be at the forefront of healthcare for patients. Often I found that we were the first port of call for patients seeking advice and healthcare, and we all pulled together as a team. It makes me extremely proud to be a pharmacist.
What are you looking forward to in the upcoming future? I am looking forward to the opportunities that pharmacists are going to have in the future, as the NHS moves in a more service based direction. I feel that our clinical skills and knowledge will be utilised to help further support primary care, as we have so much to offer.
