Kids win Well Pharmacy poster competition
Three children have won a Well Pharmacy poster competition to promote blood pressure awareness.
The competition was held to support Know Your Numbers Week organized by Blood Pressure UK to raise awareness about blood pressure testing.
Anika, 12, from Leicester, Patrick, 8, from Newark, and Olivia, 3, from Halifax, who was assisted by her few month old baby brother Henry, were selected as the winners to have their posters on show at the pharmacies.

“We were all absolutely delighted to see their poster in our local pharmacy and to be playing our part in this important initiative”, he added.
Well Pharmacy wanted the posters to advertise Know Your Numbers Week and talk about blood pressure, and a spokesperson said they had “hundreds of wonderful, creative and colourful entries” the judges picked through.
The posters were on show for the promotional week from September 2-8 as “a colourful reminder for adults to have regular blood pressure checks” as Well wanted to educate “those who may be unaware they have high blood pressure and can offer information on managing and lowering hypertension”.

The mother of Newark winner Patrick said he’s “loved drawing or any arts and crafts since he was old enough to hold a crayon [and] he’s a very expressive boy”.

“From around the age of five he’s said he wants to be an artist [but] he can sometimes lack confidence and often needs encouragement to believe in himself as much as I do, [but] he was excited to enter the competition”, mother Emily Nellist added.
According to Well, one in three adults in the UK are living with high blood pressure and “50% of those are unaware that they have it” so they wanted posters “that would turn a complicated health message into a simple and eye-catching design that everyone can relate to".
