Portsmouth Football Club has renewed a sponsorship deal with a local pharmacy group.

Lalys Pharmacy has 13 branches across Portsmouth, Gosport, Southampton and Surrey and it will continue as the club’s official substitution sponsor in a “multi-year agreement”.

The group has been the substitution sponsor since its first partnership with Portsmouth FC in the 2019/20 season, and the new deal will see sister business AccessU join the sponsorship.

Both businesses are owned by the JCL Group, with AccessU a private healthcare provider that Lalys Pharmacy patients can access GP services through.

The group’s director Dr Raj Laly said the sponsorship has been “useful, dynamic and hugely rewarding” and he’s enjoyed “creating opportunities to support each other in our shared community”.

The pharmacy has had a regular matchday presence beyond appearing on the LED boards and being heard over the Tannoy at Portsmouth’s home games at Fratton Park when substitutions happen.

It has raised awareness of getting blood pressure checks in the ground’s fanzone, done on-the-spot testing and collaborated with the club to promote awareness campaigns during Covid-19.

Recently, the pharmacy launched a video series that sees it quiz Portsmouth players Hayden Matthews, Adrian Segečić and Luke Le Roux on football and healthcare.

Portsmouth FC corporate sales head Kayleigh Young said the club is “thrilled to extend our partnership” with the pharmacy after showing “a genuine passion for supporting the club both on and off the pitch” for many seasons.

“We look forward to working closely together in the years ahead and helping Lalys and AccessU continue to engage with our supporters and the wider community,” she added.
