Pharmacy2U will be the front-of-shirt sponsor for rugby union club Leicester Tigers in their next league match.

The online pharmacy will be the one-off match partner for the club’s game tomorrow (March 28) against Gloucester Rugby, which is the second of this season’s Slater Cup fixtures.

The Slater Cup is the name for Leicester and Gloucester’s domestic fixtures against each other.

It’s named after former lock Ed Slater who played for both sides, and was diagnosed with motor neurone disease (MND) in July 2022.

10% of sales made from the special edition shirt will be donated to the MND charity 4ED set up after Slater’s diagnosis.

Pharmacy2U chief executive Kevin Heath said supporting the fixture is “about more than rugby” and a chance to “stand behind causes that matter to our communities”.

“We’re honoured to help raise awareness and funds for 4ED and support the incredible work they do for those affected by MND, both on and off the pitch," he said.

Cycle fundraiser

Along with the shirt sales donation, the online pharmacy will also be donating to 4ED and supporting the Race to the Slater Cup bike ride fundraiser.

Legends from both rugby teams will be cycling 45 miles from their own stadiums on the morning of the Slater Cup match to Premier League football side Aston Villa’s ground, Villa Park, where the fixture is taking place.

Former Leicester Tigers, England, and British and Irish Lions rugby star Lewis Moody will feature in the cycle ride, having revealed his own MND diagnosis back in October.

A separate fundraiser for the cycle has so far raised £29,556 from a £100,000 target, with half of the proceeds going to Lewis Moody’s chosen charity and the other half to 4ED.

Leicester head coach Geoff Parling said he’s looking forward “to seeing Ed Slater and know how much this game means to himself, Lewis Moody and the whole MND community”.

It comes after another online pharmacy officially partnered with Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club in November.

The Lincolnshire Co-op sent its pharmacy teams to three professional Lincolnshire football teams games as part of an initiative for people to have “easier access to get their vaccination on a walk-in basis”.

And a travel pharmacy has become an official partner with Sheffield United FC for the 2025/26 season.
